The San Diego Zoo

San Diego Zoo is one of the world's most famous zoos. It covers over 107 acres, each one of which is called home by a number of animals totaling over 4,000 from over 800 species. These animals are not only for the visitor’s enjoyment, but also to increase the awareness on animal conservation. It is in fact a perfect place for animal lovers worldwide.

The animals, however, are just one big facet of the zoo's importance and value, even if it is indeed one big surface. In addition to having a lot of animals, San Diego Zoo has also led many new techniques when it comes to animal care and conservation. And these are followed by many other zoos, and have even set the standards of animal safekeeping all over. And the effects of these can already be seen, with the way the animals in their exhibits behave, their state of mind and body, and overall well-being.

In addition to the techniques and rules enforced by the zoo, the animals of San Diego Zoo thrive also because of the way their enclosures are built. These exhibits are built to specification, catering to the very specific needs of each animal. They are planned based on themes, from the African jungles and rainforests, to the snowy Arctic plains and tundras, and everything else in between. The reasons for this is to make sure that the animals stay as close to their natural habitats as possible, and therefore, act, live, and thrive the way they were supposed to in the wild.

Because of its size, and number of animals, it will be absolutely difficult to go around this zoo. However, this is not the case, as San Diego Zoo covers all the bases when it comes to transportation. A bus system allows passengers to be shuttled to over 75% of the zoo grounds, and the Skyfari, an overhead lift, provides visitors unobstructed bird's-eye views of the zoo proper.

And of course walking is an option, made easier by the numerous pathways that, with each turn, give good views of the numerous exhibits present in the zoo.

The San Diego Zoo is absolutely one of the most important and never missing wild spot. Just come here and experience it.
